Terra Nostra Tickets: Prices, The 15-Day Window And The Rules

The park publishes five price lines and nothing above them. An adult aged 18 to 64 pays $19.48 (€17.00) for a dated online ticket. Youth visitors aged 6 to 17 and seniors aged 65 and over both pay $16.62 (€14.50). The family ticket covers two adults plus two children for $65.30 (€57.00), and each extra youth on a family ticket is $14.90 (€13.00). The Azores resident discount is real but it never appears online, it is sold only at the physical ticket office.

What one ticket buys is broad. It covers the garden, the fixed and temporary plant collections, and use of the thermal tank and the jacuzzis. The five bands at a glance

The park's online ticket stock is released only 15 days ahead of the date you want. That is the mechanic, not a shortage. You cannot plan a Terra Nostra bath three months out through the official site, because the date simply does not exist in the system yet.

The ticket is bought for one specific date. The park's own wording is that the visit takes place on the date you scheduled, so there is no open ticket you can redeem whenever. Pick the wrong day and you are buying another ticket.

Inside the park there are no time slots. The session is the date, and no exit time is published other than closing at 16:30. Our estimate, not the park's: for peak summer afternoons, be on the site the morning the date opens 15 days out. In winter the window matters far less. Choosing the right season in the first place is its own question, covered in best time to visit.

One consequence worth planning around: since availability opens on a rolling 15-day window, a summer trip booked months ahead cannot be ticketed on booking day. Diarise the release date for the day you want, the same way you would a restaurant reservation in a small town, and treat the best time to visit shoulder months as the low-friction alternative.

The park opens 10:30 and closes 16:30 every single day of the week, Sundays and public holidays included. The only published closure is 25 December.

Two timing rules shape your day. You may enter up to 30 minutes before closing, which makes 16:00 the practical last entry. And in the last 10 minutes of the day everyone heads for the exit. The pool keeps the same hours as the park, so the tank shuts when the garden does.

One dated ticket covers the whole park: the garden itself, both the fixed and the temporary plant collections, the thermal tank and jacuzzis. There is no separate bathing ticket and no published extra charge for the water.

On how long to allow, the only figure the park publishes is its summer route: 3 km of garden, about 1h30 of walking. Our estimate is to treat that as the garden alone and add the pool session on top, because the 30-minute maximum in the tank sits outside that walking time.

Read the inclusion list as a bundle, because it is one. There is no garden-only or pool-only ticket in the published bands, so a visitor who wants neither the plants nor the water is still buying both. That single-pricing choice is also why the capacity caps matter: the same dated ticket that fills the garden paths fills the tank, and the park guide describes how the two halves share the 10:30-16:30 day.

These are the numbers that make afternoon slots tight. A tank that caps at 100 bathers with a 30-minute rotation moves a lot of people through, but the jacuzzis cap at 10, and showers are mandatory on both sides of every soak. The rules are published by the park on its thermal-water page.

Published pool figures

The park advises dark swimwear. The water is iron-rich, which is where the orange colour comes from, and it stains light fabrics. It can also discolour hair and nails.

The practical instruction is to wash your swimwear before it dries, because dried-in iron sets. Note what is absent too: the park's pool-rules page contains no swim-cap rule of any kind. That is a real contrast with Poça da Dona Beija nearby, which recommends a cap and sells one for $1.15 (€1).

An Azores resident discount exists, but it is sold only at the physical ticket office on the day, never online. If you qualify and hold a Cartão de Cidadão, that is the only published route to it.

No other reduced categories are published beyond the bands above. There is no student tier, no group tier and no child-under-six tier on the park's ticket page.

Guests of the adjacent Terra Nostra Garden Hotel get unlimited access to the park including the pools, 24 hours a day. For them the dated ticket and the 16:30 closing simply do not apply, and the park also grants them free parking on its premises.

For everyone else, the park publishes no day-visitor parking arrangements at all. So day visitors park where they can in Furnas, and no village parking price is published either. Staying overnight changes the whole equation, which we cover in where to stay.
